About

Hello. I’m Sam. Nice to meet you.

I’m a freelance editor and journalist, with a background in consumer publishing and design.

I am currently working on a number of projects from my base in New York.

I write on culture, society, travel, food and art for various magazine titles. My interest in presenting the female perspective has recently lead to reportage pieces on violence against women in the Solomon Islands archipelago, which I visited for field work in July last year.

As an ongoing project with my friend and collaborator, the supremely talented photographer Emily Andrews, I find and write about interesting people and their living environments around the world. They can be artists, architects or skywriters — as long as they’ve got a distinctive space and something clever to say about it, we’re in.

Recently, we’ve covered people in Paris, the South of France, London, Mexico City, Los Angeles, New York and New Zealand, and the stories the project has generated have appeared in the consumer and design press in Australia, New Zealand and Europe.

I also work for Wine-Searcher.com as the company’s New York correspondent, and regularly file stories on the wine industry, personalities and news from the Americas.

If you have any queries about these projects, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. I’m always looking for more skywriters to interview or, failing that, more wine tastings to attend.
